The 10-day Self Transformation Retreat from December 28, 2015 - January 6, 2016 will take place place in the idyllic ashram of Swami Rama on the banks of the river Ganga. 

The Ashram of Swami Rama, known as Sadhana Mandir is located in Rishikesh, Garhwal Himalayas, India.



Retreat Details

This 10-day Retreat will take sincere sadhakas (aspirants) through the entire process of Yoga Meditation from beginning to end. From the gross to the subtle. From the external world to the deeper realms of mind and consciousness. This retreat is meant to give you a systematic overview of the entire process of meditation.

Daily Programme

  • 6.30-7.30 a.m. Guided Yoga Meditation
  • 8 a.m. Breakfast
  • 10 a.m. -12 noon Interactive Discussion
  • 12 noon - 1 p.m. Guided Yoga Meditation
  • 1-2 p.m. Lunch
  • 3-5 p.m. Informal sessions including practical or personal guidance
  • 5-6 p.m. Walk along the Ganges
  • 6-7 p.m Yoga Meditation (independent practice)
  • 7 p.m. Dinner
  • 9-10 p.m. Yoga Meditation (independent practice) 


There are no special pre-requisites to attend this retreat other than a burning desire to learn meditation. 

If we have not met personally and do not know each other, then please write a short introduction about yourself and why you would like to attend.

It might be necessary to get to know each other in a video call over Skype or Googlehangout, if possible. This is so that you get to know me and make sure that you want to spend 10 days with me. :-) And for me to assess your level of understanding and practice and to determine if this retreat is suitable for you. 

I might recommend another teacher or even another Tradition for you, or put you on a waiting list, if the retreat is full.

Sadhana Mandir is not very large and only 20 persons can attend this retreat. And only 3 places are left!

Sadhana Mandir has had unfortunate experiences of people reserving and not showing up. So they would like to have a non-refundable deposit of the entire amount for 10 days including food and accommodation.

The non-refundable deposit is Rs. 9000 for residents of India and 150 Euro for others

Once i have confirmed your participation in the Retreat you will have to transfer the amount. This amount is non-refundable. 

The bank details will be sent once your application has been accepted.

Food &  Accommodation

This costs Rs. 9000 for 10 days (approx. 150 Euro)  and includes both food as well as accommodation.

Food is indian vegetarian. Three meals will be served. There is also a water filter. 

Rooms are single or double occupancy depending on availability.


My time and expenses are not covered in the Rs. 9000/150 Euro. Your  donations are always appreciated and go in to a fund for a new Ashram near Frankfurt, Germany.


You have to make travel arrangements yourself.

From outside of India: Arrive at New Delhi International Airport (DEL). 

From New Delhi Airport a car pick up service can be arranged for an extra charge. You can also take a flight to Dehradun from Delhi airport.

From within India: Arrive at New Delhi, take the Shatabdi train from Delhi station to Haridwar and from there a rickshaw to Swami Rama Ashram at Ganga Barrage.

Alternatively car pickup arrangements can be made from Delhi to the Ashram for an extra charge.


Plan to arrive at least a day before beginning of Retreat. Long Distance travellers should arrive 2-3 days before beginning of Retreat to adjust to time difference. You will have to pay Rs 900 per day(appox €12-15), for every additional day you stay. 

What to bring along

The daytime temperatures in Rishikesh are quite pleasant, between 15-25 C in December-January. Night time temperatures are between 5-10 C. All rooms have small radiators.

Please bring along:

  • Thermal underwear and warm clothing like socks, pullovers, warm hats
  • Good walking shoes for trips
  • Torch or flashlight

Some of these items may also be purchased in Rishikesh.

Internet Connection

There is no Wi-fi in the Ashram, but there are internet facilities in the bookstore of the Ashram. The charge is nominal.

Other Expenses

During the 10 day retreat, time permitting, we may also enjoy some of the sights of the famous Rishikesh-Haridwar area. There will be additional costs for those who wish to come along. We will share cars depending on the number of persons. You  may also want to purchase books from Sadhana Mandir.
